I am a research mathematician for most of my life, a full professor at the department of mathematics of a big state university, which is a research university with an extensive graduate program in mathematics. I hold a Ph.D. in mathematics and a higher degree awarded in some European countries. I am a member of the Inaugural Class of Fellows of the American Mathematical Society (the institute of Fellows was introduced in 2012), a distinction shared by about 800 other mathematicians worldwide.
