My name is Julie Edison. I spent the last 8 years of my life working for a major corporation. The great thing about the company was that they taught me more about managing a business than I could have ever learned through college. Yes, I have a degree, but there is no replacing real-world experience. During my time with them I found that there truly was a wrong way of doing business, however there were countless ways of doing it right. The problem with big corporations is that they are slow to move with the trends- it takes a long time for decisions to be made. And those decisions are intended to appeal to a very large group of people. The question is how effective is there message? Small businesses don't have the time or funds to spend on grand marketing campaigns or process overhauls. To be perfectly honest. They don't need to. Small businesses have a unique market with a more specific niche of customers. The trick is figuring out exactly what that is and being creative with the way you present yourself. The same rule applies to management techniques- a series a small changes and good decisions can make a world of difference.
