MistyAnn

MistyAnn McMillan is an indigenous wordsmith born in the heart of Niagara, Canada who challenges the way words are consumed. After surviving sepsis when a kidney stone nearly ended her life, she has risen with purpose and intention. Her flair for dramatic descriptions and unique point of view give her work an unmistakable edge; Catching words dripping from her injured mind, she masterfully arranges poetry like a master builder of prose. MistyAnn’s full length book, “I Danced, Anyway” details her harrowing experience leaving the intensive care unit to embody the great warrior uncovered by white light. Overcoming impossible odds to realize a lifelong dream to become a ballerina on pointe shoes, MistyAnn now acts as an ambassador for sepsis awareness. Sepsis, an often fatal and little recognized illness that strikes fast and often leaves barely moments to spare to survive. She now promises tomorrow can be a better day by focusing today on nutrition and healthy movement to heal a body from the inside out.
