L.V. Fucanan

L.V. Fucanan is a Filipina author whose stories live somewhere between faith and doubt, devotion and rebellion, love and survival. A Communication graduate and longtime Business English trainer, she began writing Those Who Dream by Day in 2016, eventually turning what started as a single story into A Series of Dreams—a dystopian saga exploring religion, power, identity, morality, history, and what happens when people begin questioning the world they were taught never to question. Her fascination with religion began long before she started writing about fictional societies governed by it. Having spent much of her life in Christian schools and churches, she became interested not only in faith itself, but in the complicated relationship between belief, institutions, human nature, and free will. Those questions eventually found their way into her fiction. Outside the considerably less cheerful worlds she creates, L.V. is fond of all things pink, frites, Belgian waffles, excessively cute dogs, and laughing at things that probably should not be as funny as she finds them. She’s currently in the Philippines and will be living in Belgium soon, where she will continue writing A Series of Dreams and wondering just how much suffering her characters can reasonably endure before readers begin filing formal complaints.
