Joel Schipper

Until retiring in 2014, Joel Schipper spent 21 years as a Master Principal Sales Consultant and Solution Architect at Oracle for Manufacturing, Distribution, and Supply Chain solutions in Agri-Business, Life Sciences, CPG, Industrial manufacturing, and wholesale distribution environments. Since then he has been an independent consultant advising on ERP strategies through his small company of Enterprise Software Insight, Inc. He has served on the advisory boards of a small software startup (iKnowCentral.com) and Oracle/JD Edwards partner PCB Apps. Recently, he has worked with Kansas State University to develop a "JD Edwards Day One" program designed to introduce MBA's and other students to the basic concepts of a modern ERP system, including hands-on work with a live demo/training system and quizzes. This course is available through KSU's Global Campus and online learning facilities. He has 47 years of experience applying information management to business processes, from working in corporate information technology to consulting to software sales and implementation. For 18 years prior to joining Oracle/JD Edwards, Joel worked in large corporate Information Systems development (DuPont, Playtex), consulting in Information Technology and Business Operations (Peat Marwick, Grant Thornton), and global software implementation management (SSA/BPCS). He has a BS in Mathematics, and an MSIE in Operations Research, and is certified at the Fellow level by APICS (CFPIM). In retirement, he spends two afternoons a week playing the Great American songbook on the piano and keyboard at nursing homes and shelters, and occasionally keeps up this blog.
