I was raised in small town VA by hard-working, middle-class parents. My father's nickname for me has always been "Ruby". I've never quite known why, but I like to think it is in reference to the durable and fiery red gemstone that is so rare to find. Throughout my life, people have often judged me as unassuming and dull. I don't try to persuade them otherwise. I simply am myself. I do think those people would be surprised to hear my thoughts, know my feelings, and gain a glimpse into the depth of my soul. I have a lot to say and this blog is my vehicle for expression. The things I love: colorful leaves, lush green grass, scents of vanilla, hints of red, passionate kisses, pea coats, mountain views, a fluffy white dog named Halo, pumpkin pie, funny comments made by children, organic farming, unique bicycles, and nature photography. The things I do: run, bike, take pictures, cook, read, write, and ponder.
