He has worked pro bono in Maryland as a legal aid attorney in Prince George's County and as a court-appointed special advocate for nonverbal and LGBTQ youth. His community service earned him the Pro Bono Attorney of the Year award in 2007. He also mentors Midshipmen at the United States Naval Academy and serves as an Election Judge in Maryland, reinforcing his commitment to integrity and justice. Furthermore, Andrew indulges his passion for history as a tour guide at Arlington House at Arlington National Cemetery, a passion instilled by his father, a former Southern California police chief. From his policy and leadership roles, Lorenzen-Strait dedicates his time to his hobbies and voluntary work, driven by his love for child welfare, service, and history. He volunteers as a Park Ranger at the National Park Service, Arlington Cemetery and House, and as a Child Mentor at the Northern Virginia Aids Ministry. His early experience as an intern in the Office of the First Lady in 1998 reignited his passion for history, leading him to become a Historical Tour Guide. Additionally, he is a proud board member of Courageous Hearts Adoptions in Greenville, Indiana, where he adopted his three children.
